Pai is a ride-hailing service in Laos with two apps: Pai (for riders) and Pai Driver. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- Phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your name, shown to your driver or rider during a trip.
- Location. Riders: the pickup point while booking and during a trip. Drivers: GPS position while the app is open and set to online, so we can send nearby rides and show riders where you are. We do not track location when the app is closed.
- Trips: pickup, drop-off, route distance, fare, payment method, ratings and safety (SOS) alerts.
- Drivers only: vehicle details and photos of your ID card, driving licence, vehicle registration, transport permit, insurance and a selfie, to verify you before you can drive.
How we use it
- To match riders with nearby drivers, calculate fares and run trips.
- To verify drivers and keep riders safe, including responding to SOS alerts.
- To keep trip records required by Lao transport regulations.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in Singapore).
- Twilio (sends sign-in codes by WhatsApp or SMS).
- Google Maps (maps and place search).
Driver document photos are stored privately. Only Pai operations staff can view them.
How long we keep it
We keep your account until you delete it. When you delete your account we erase your name, phone number and driver documents. Trip and payment records are kept without your personal details, because the transport licence requires them.
Your choices
You can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account) or by following the steps on our account deletion page. For any other request, email support@paibor.app.
